48th scale "Joshua" walking tank in Israeli service
Built 31st May to 29th August 2020
When I finished the Bakunin walking tanks in 2017 I had the components to
two 1/48th scale Hobbyboss T34/76 tanks spare. So I decided to use them up
and chose the 1/20th scale Wave Pak Krote kit as a basis for the kitbash.
The vision was for an open top self-propelled gun using the crew from the
German anti-aircraft gun that was also left over from the Bakunin project.
The project came a long way from there. I had always planned a desert
setting but swapped it from being a German walking tank to an Israeli one
late in plans.
The diorama was built up the same time as the one for the Academy
Huckebein and is the same size. I have shoe-horned on the old Dioramics
Midle-Eastern Market Building alongside the more familiar Airfix "Afghan
Single Storey Dwelling". The Joshua is barely recognisable from its Krote
origins as it has a new body and heavily modified turret & legs. I quite
enjoyed how this turned out in the end. It looks mean and purposeful.
