1/24th scale Fujimi Spinner & Blade Runner Diorama
Model built between June 2018 & March 2019
I dubbed this diorama "A Little Slice of Blade Runner" and is based upon
the Fujimi Spinner and various items from Miniature Universe. This went
together remarkably quickly for me and was complete in under 10 months. It
might have taken even less time if I had not wasted an enormous amount of
time trying to find a flasher PCB to drive the LEDs. The one supplied in
the aftermarket kit didn't work and neither did any of the replacements.
In the end I procured a very similar board that worked fine but was too
large to fit inside the Spinner hull. So I then had to wire it to the
base. Considering that I had not at first considered LED lighting the
model this all worked out well in the end. The best bit was the
"atmosphere" the LEDs gave the final photographs. With only a little
daylight I took the photos without photographic lighting and flash. They
look just like a shot from the movie - which was exactly the look I was
after. Very pleased! To get to that point I added a whole set of LEDs to
light the Miniature Universe Building. These initially came from a set I
picked up off EBay for a model boat. That wasn't enough for me so I
purchased a lot more miniature SMD LEDs to light the outside of the
building. Thanks to Werner Leiss for sculpting the masters for the Deckard
& Gaff figures in the cockpit.
