Flying Chinese Junk (Aoshima approx 350th scale)
Built between January & April 2020
The vision for this steampunk-fantasy-kit-bash was derived from various sci fi artworks
depicting boats flying in the sky.
The original influence for this was My Kim's flying chinese junk from the
movie "The Fifth Element" and mainly the art of Ian McQue (who was
noteworthy for his work on the Mortal Engines books art).
I searched for a long time, quite fruitlessly, for a large model Junk to
use for this project. In the end I had to use the Aoshima kit which is of
indeterminant scale. I used 350th scale model ship photoetch but it is
probably a little too small for this. It could scale out to anything up to
200th scale - who knows?
The resin sea base that was a bit of a catastrophe.
